Confessions of a HALO Fan 01/04/09
4 January 09My first Confession of 2009, I am not going to give you guys a long post about what happened in 2008 and what will happen in 2009
The plan was to do that in the Confessions of last week but I got ill, I still am actually
I will start this BLOG with a thank you. I would like to say thank you to that person, I used to be an active member on several forums. And each of these forums would have that person, who would get annoyed with my online appearance, that would do a facepalm before clicking on the threads created by me. That person that would always tell me in a rude way to get the fuck out, because nobody gives a shit about the HALO crap I write. That person, who would write stuff like: ”Do everybody on this forum a favour and write about your HALO bullshit on a blog or something and stop wasting our forum database”’ or ”Is it possible for you not to write about HALO for once?”. Herewith I would officially like to thank you for giving me the ”advice” to get a BLOG

I started this BLOG in May 2008, I had 41,603 visitors in 2008 an average of 174 visitors a day. Some of the forums I used to participate in don’t exist anymore
You might have noticed the lack of posts in the last two months, this lack was because of two things: A, I am busy, B I had only an EEE PC with an 7” screen at my disposal. Blogging on a 7” screen is time consuming with the busy schedule I have I couldn’t afford to BLOG much. Plus the EEE PC was running Xandros, a Linux distribution that gives me PMS just writing about it
The last three weeks this distribution got corrupted, i.e. blogging became more time consuming
Last friday I bought a new desktop, yes I bought a new computer again
If you know me, or read my personal BLOG you know I can’t seem to pass a year without buying a new laptop/desktop and without breaking one of them
RedDEAD once pointed out that maybe using computers isn’t my thing, maybe he has a point
I bought an emachine, it is the model EL1200 it is a nice cheap slimline model. It is running on XP, yes I am back to Windows again, for the people who were around/remember me leaving Windows with a lot of bravado, go ahead, point and laugh
I am not going to stop using my EEE PC though, I removed that fucking corrupted Xandros
and installed EEEBuntu the EEE PC. Yes I am back to Ubuntu, yeah that linux distro that I left with a lot of bravado, go ahead, point and laugh
Where Ubuntu looks like a boring treehugging hippy, EEEBuntu is t3h hornyness
even though the logo looks like an anal probe for advanced users
Of course I am running ”The Netbook Remix” the name alone makes you want it
check this screenshot
(Cliccie for larger piccie)
If you do cliccie for larger piccie then you’ll see the actual size of the screen of my EEE PC, it’s not hard to imagine that blogging on that thing sucked
I now have a 20” screen to my disposal, the improvement! If you are curious whether I will install a linux distro on the emachine… No I won’t
for several reasons, I didn’t manage to install Ubuntu on it straightaway and I am too lazy to tweak around to get it installed and most of my coursebooks come with an CD/DVD rom that works under Windows and that I never got working under WINE (I am not talking about the drink here
) so I have to use Windows. People who know me, know I give all my computers names, the EEE PC is called lilguilty
and I called my emachine Cortana. But I think I have to change the name of the emachine into lildawgy because everytime I get that thing out of the ‘’sleepmode” it makes a bark like sound
So what to expect in 2009? Nothing
the only thing you can count on are the Confessions which I will continue to post on every Sunday. BTW, I noticed that I get the most visitors on Sunday, you fuckheads

Dear Dan, how on fucking earth did you find THIS BLOG? It’s the first time I wrote about Linux on this one :O
Anyways I am not going to tell which CD/DVD roms they are, especially not on here since they are way too specific. Thanks for asking though!
About those coursebooks that don’t run on Wine:
can you please tell us which ones?
(Ideally, you’d file bugs at http://bugs.winehq.org
but just listing them here would do.)
